at long last, i am pleased as punch to announce that Hold On, the debut single from my debut album Geography is now live on all platforms!

it takes a village, y'all...
this song was born in the spirit of collaboration, during February Album Writing Month a few years back. the first draft came out of a skirmish, one of many one hour songwriting challenges that take place during the online event.
the prompt was "buckle up" and somehow it made me think of a beautiful friday at the end of my freshman year at Kansas State University. i had no classes that friday so i decided to go for a long drive--windows down, blaring the album Our Time In Eden by 10,000 Maniacs--through the flint hills outside Manhattan, Kansas.
i was overcome with a feeling that hopefully every 19 year old experiences--the sense that in the seeming infinity of days that stretched before me anything was possible. it's safe to say that i was writing this song, looking back on that day, at a time when i was really struggling to hold on to that hope.
it was the song i needed to sing back to myself in that moment of time, and i hope that as it makes its way into the world, it will reach other souls who need to reconnect with their younger self and the hope you feel when all your life before you lays...
despite how resonant this little song now feels, it was such a long road filled with SO much tweaking before this sweet tune landed a spot on the album. more on that story later this week on instagram. hope you'll join the conversation there 🧡
